S D Burman's background track will allow you to listen to those rich lyrics. He even manages to somehow enhance their meaning through the haunting score. Hemant kumar goes straight for the emotional jugular and S D Burman facilitates it mesmerisingly.. I for one never developed a liking for Guru Dutt's self-pity oriented themes.. but his rendition of these themes.. oh,the honest rendition .. with the rough edges left deliberately unpolished.. just phenomenal! Just think of a moment when you were at your weakest, drained, tired, misunderstood - and his songs will pay homage to your emotions - in the most graceful manner possible.
